He attended
Missouri State University (formerly Southwest Mi
ssouri State University) in
Springfield, where he studied Media, Journalism, and Film. There, he wrote news copy at the local National Public Radio station KSMU, penned
movie reviews for The Standard, the college newspaper. He also had his own radio show titled “Weapons
of Mass Distraction” on the Growl. It
was in Missouri he got his first job working in film, serving as a Production
Assistant on Larva, a Sci-Fi Channel
film shooting in Springfield.
He moved to California, attending Chapman
University’s prestigious film school where he studied directing under mentors
John Badham (Saturday Night Fever, War Games) and Gil Bettman (Knight Rider). While at Chapman, he interned for Transformers producer Don Murphy (Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Real Steel, Natural Born Killers).
His thesis, Last
Call, a surrealistic drama, is playing all over the world, showing in
Australia, Italy, Canada, and beyond. It
won the Silver Remi Award at Houston Worldfest, Special Jury Prize at Queersicht, and Best Student film at Honolulu Film Festival... and continues to make film
festival rounds. His award-winning sci-fi
short Lonely Man has also played internationally.
His work as
a First Assistant Director took him to the jungles and beaches of Hawaii. He lead the crew of Stones,
an award-winning film based on an ancient Hawaiian legend.
He lives in Los Angeles and works in Television.
